About the property
Fort Augustus Abbey on the shores of Loch Ness is, without doubt, one of the
finest old buildings in the north of Scotland with a fascinating history,
turbulent at times, starting out as a military garrison and, ironically perhaps,
later converted into a place of peace by St Benedictine monks. Recently
redeveloped, to provide some of the most exclusive self catering holiday homes
and residential apartments in the Highlands of Scotland.
Lakeside location, surrounded on three sides by water, the abbey is set on
the southern end of Loch Ness in twenty acres of beautiful mature garden grounds
which extend right down to the shoreline of the loch. The Caledonian Canal forms
the western boundary and the river Tarff forms the eastern boundary. The
Highland Club accommodation is midway between Inverness and Fort William so
provides an excellent base for touring the Highlands. There are excellent road
rail and air links into the Highland capital. The apartments have all the luxury
facilities expected from a self catering apartment of this quality.
Highland Club Facilities. These include a tennis court and cricket
pitch, with the Boathouse restaurant situated within the grounds. Once the
renovation of phase two is completed, an indoor swimming pool, spa facilities,
and a club room with full sized snooker table will be for the exclusive use for
Highland Club residents and visitors. The lovely, picturesque village of Fort
